As we all know, lifting slings can be divided into hoisting and rigging categories, and their application industries are quite similar. Therefore, many customers find it challenging to distinguish whether to purchase lifting slings or rigging. Understanding the differences between the two is essential before making a purchase. Today, we will introduce some differences between lifting slings and rigging.

The English name for lifting slings is "lifting sling," which refers to the device for lifting heavy objects in lifting machinery. The most commonly used lifting slings for lifting assembled items are lifting hooks, and other options include lifting rings, lifting suction cups, clamps, and forks. They are widely used in the lifting and hoisting industry.

Rigging, known as "rigging" in English, is defined by foreigners as rope components on rigging nets and by China as tools for applying force between lifting machinery and the objects being lifted, as well as force components for stabilizing spatial structures. It is generally composed of high-strength flexible components combined with end rings, hooks, shackles, etc. Its application range is quite extensive, mainly including important industries such as ports, electricity, steel, shipbuilding, petrochemicals, mining, railways, construction, metallurgy, automotive manufacturing, engineering machinery, papermaking machinery, industrial control, logistics, large-scale transportation, pipeline ancillary equipment, maritime rescue, marine engineering, airport construction, bridges, aviation, aerospace, and venues.

Classification and Advantages and Disadvantages of Rigging

Chain Rigging

Overview: Chain rigging consists of round chain links and accessories such as lifting rings and hooks. It is a type of metal rigging, divided into 60 grades, 80 grades, 100 grades, and 120 grades according to the carrying capacity. The higher the grade, the higher the carrying capacity of the same specification chain.

Advantages:

Synthetic Fiber Slings

Overview: Synthetic fiber lifting slings are made of high-strength polyester (acid-resistant but not alkali-resistant), polypropylene (alkali-resistant but not acid-resistant), or polyamide (alkali-resistant but not acid-resistant) industrial strength long filaments as raw materials, woven or wound through industrial weaving machines.

Advantages:

Steel Wire Rope Rigging

Overview: The steel wire rope is composed of multiple strands or multiple strands of thin steel wires twisted into strands, and then a certain number of strands are twisted into a spiral rope. It is used for lifting, traction, tensioning, and bearing in material handling machinery. The common core types are hemp core and steel core.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

  1. 1.Surface prone to wear and corrosion, causing wire breakage and affecting the load
